How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

Thank you for your reply. However, as stated in my original question, Mountain Lion does not appear in my Purchases. It does now show up when I Option click Purchases (used to unhide purchases) and there isn't an option in my Account info to unhide purchases.

I have exactly the same problem... I need to redownload a copy of Montain Lion so that can create a bootable disk to perform a format and fresh build on my MBP as I am seeing performance issues since the upgrade. I think this is due to some old file system apps that I had installed that no longer work on Mountain Lion.
Anyway, I'm stuck with a bad performing laptop, already paid for Mountain Lion, cant redownload it, certainly dont want to pay for it again! Really bad glitch on Apple's part.
Hope there is a way to get around this, gonna do more digging around.

I had same problem. Logged into my account at the App Store, and clicked the link for hidden purchases. Showed Lion, Mountain Lion, and Aperture. Clicked to unhide Mountain Lion, and it's downloading now.
