Since data is seldom erased with data systems of many companies, iPhone is no different. To really delete these you will have to Restore iPhone with iTunes 10.7 on computer.

is there anyway to remove stuff from appearing in spotlight search??? I've deleted stuff and it still appears here. I have heard there are apps to recover deleted texts and other info on the phone. Will these also be able to fully delete and remove old stuff you no longer wanted???

Apparntly if you Sync your phone with i tunes it will permanantly delete all the msg's from showing in the spotlight search for good? I tried this a couple of times and no luck. What you can do is go into Settings> General> Spotlight Search.. and Uncheck Messages. This will prevent msg's from showing in the search! Put a passcode lock on your phone, because lets face it.. We dont want her finding out were cheating now do we? Or that were secretly gay on our days off.
Since we WIPING our whole phone by restoring is not an option every five mins, Apple is rude for letting these show in spotlight search at all. If whoever you dont want to see those msg's "Is smart" they will still find them! And then's we got's to bury them dont's weee!!! But if your anything like me your really not that worried bout anyone finding them, your just obsessive compulsive and want them gone.
