Hi, great work so far, but extremely unlikely to get any comment from Apple here... or anywhere else really.
One question, did you ever install any Seagate Software?
Have you tested botting in Safe Mode to see if the same thing occurs?

I have tried in safe mode, same problem. Will not mount drive on restart or wake.
One of the other error messages I've seen is "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" ignore or eject. If I unplug the drive after this message the iMac reads the drive just fine. The drive format is mac OS extended.
I have loaded the seagate software that came with the drive, it was also what seagate said to do. The computer and go flex drive behavior is exactly the same with or without the seagate software loaded.

Fortunately my iMac still under service agreement. Their tech support walked me through their process which concluded with unplugging all devices, unplugging the mac, holding down the power button for 15 sec and then put power back into the machine. Apparently this forces the Mac to reestablish a new connection with the external devices. The Seagate go flex on thunderbolt still came up with the same error, can not read the drive.
Apple say iMac is working correctly and the operating system is doing what it is supposed to be doing.
Will be contacting Seagate but fully expect a similar answer.

So, here is how this problem was solved.
Seagate e-mail support was not helpful. However, their phone support was very good. I explained all if the problem solving steps that I took and within 5 minutes of discussion the technician said something was wrong with the drive.
The Seagate drive has a 3 year warranty on it so they set up a drive replacement. I received the drive yesterday, They stocked out of the drive so it took a little longer than normal replacement process.
I connected the replacement drive, did not load any of the Seagate software because the readme notes on the drive say it is optional and the drive is ready for use out of the box.
I tested the drive on shut down and sleep modes, so far it looks like the drive works correctly. It will dismount and mount correctly upon wake and restart.
My recomendation to anyone with a Seagate for mac thunderbolt drive that does not remount correctly to call Seagate and have them replace the drive.

I was having the same issue only with my firewire 800 connection. The app "Jettison" worked for me. After purchasing the app version 1.2.4 I then went to the St. Clair web site and got the free update to version 1.3. After that I had no problem remounting the drives automatically.
