Trying to diagnose my friend's iMac G5 1.8 GHz PPC. He cannot find the original install disks which would have the Apple Hardware Test suite on them. I am looking to download, but can't seem to get the correct one. I dowwnloaded from Apple  both AHT available for PPC 5,1 and 5,2. The library is present in both versions, under which there is Core Service, but there are NO files in Core Service. Am I missing something?

Further, once I find the right one I presume I have to configure the download for booting off a CD. These files are compressed in dmg format and they expand correctly, but I am a bit rusty as to how to get them into the ISO boot format.

Thanks

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 20" 1.8 GHz 2 GB RAM

The easiest thing to ry first is to have your friend phone the Apple Store (1-800-MY-APPLE) and ask for and operating system specialist, then tell them he's looking for replacement system disks. If he gives the representative the serial number of the computer, they can see if that version for his serial number is still in stock. If so, there is a charge of about US$16 per disk, but it may be the only way to insure your have the proper AHT version.

I've had a terrible time with the AHT downloads.
