Cant empty Trash

Has some locked items but even when I choose delete all items the Trash will not empty further

iMac (27-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

    Remove the locked items and unlock them.

    open terminal type in sudo rm -R then open trash drag locked folders to terminal and press space type ur password and items are gone

    ALSO!! make sure you put a space after the -R or else they dont delete and you get this:

    "marks-computer:~ Mark$ sudo rm -r/Users/Mark/Desktop/97686-angry-birds-blue.gif


    rm: illegal option -- /

    usage: rm [-f | -i] [-dPRrvW] file ...

           unlink file

    marks-computer:~ Mark$ "

    try pressing alt while you delete your trash normally, this will force deletion.


    you could press alt + right mouse click "empty trash"
