Same here. I don't want to fall in the" Apple conspiracy against pro users" trap but DP8 looks very interesting and MOTU is very commited to their users as it's their only revenue. If they had a demo of some sorts i would try the new version. But those softwares are so complex and need so much time to master, i really don't look forward to the day i would need to change for some other DAW. But, right now LP9 more than suits my needs.

I shake your hand. Even though i'm a logic lover and haven't considered DP (not enough studio's in Aus and Uk use it), I SHALL have a good look at DP8!

I would hate to have to leave my old friend (17 years with Micro/Logic) but Apple are starting to slowly grind us all down up here.  DP could be a REALLY tempting if they do a crossgrade offer like Avid and Smoke trying to pull people off FCPro!

No demo but it looks like the manual is in PDF, not posted yet but hopefully they will.

DP also has a crossgrade offer, not a huge discount but it's something.  $395 instead of $495.

    Amazing. Thanks Mike.

It's very unlikely I (we) will crossgrade as nothing's broken here but DP is still quite strong in LA.

After being being apple fans and some employees for decades, we're just all getting a little annoyed these days with tech-disruptions hapnin' seemingly a lot but we'll probably just stick to post production and music on old OS Leopard.

We still have a couple of PPC G5's around still going strong and even a system 9 (for interactive tv production).

    Happy trails peeps!

If you're running a commercial studio have DP on both Mac & PC could be a huge plus, when DP is released for PC it will create a lot of buzz, trust me on that.

How do you find DP compared to Logic?

  • 96. Re: logic pro 10

I like it; DP is really easy to get around and compose in. I find it similar to Logic.

But again, for everyone I know in songwriting, composing for media and the pop&R&B world, Logic and NI is everywhere and sometimes PT | HD for mixdown.

We never hear of DP being mentioned in the UK (or Australasia) although I often deliver for AVID and have been asked to supply for an OTARI DAW… twice.   No bridge that a hefty OMF can't cross.

I've found that the older you get, the less the DAW or Platform tends to matter as long at you can work quickly and be compatible with everyone you need to be with no problem.

Hey up!! Just one problem that cmae to mind and still happens: Cheaper PC's can sometimes have a slightly slightly different tempo/clock so… I always ask cheap *** muso's to bounce a click.

Hope my random rant helps someone!

LOL The terms "Protools" and "support" in one line

Do I have overlooked something or am I correct?

Logic           24  Bit Audio  <<--- Stone Age ?

ProFools     32 Bit Audio , whooha it took long

    Cubase       32  Bit Audio

    DP               32 Bit Audio

    StudioOne   64  Bit Audio

Logic has ALWAYS been using a 32 bit floating point audio engine. All 32 bit floating point engines (cubase, PT, DP, etc) only have 24 bit real (relative) precision but very hight dynamic range. ProTools had a 24 bit fixed point engine until recently, which offered the same precision but limited dynamic range.

Wasn't Pro Tools previously 48-bit fixed point?

Regarding Cubase and Nuendo, the 32-bit float files are basically 24-bit audio/data files but the added bits help with native processing of audio as less of the audio bits are affected by truncation or or degradation caused by processing.

The difference is Cubase/Nuendo natively record/load/play 32-bit float files, Logic does not.

I imagine it's pretty much the same with DP and StudioOne.

Either he's not talking about that or he's misinterpreted his sources data. Pancenter's right, those specs are about WAV/AIFF file format bit depth not summing. Specifically the fact that L9 still supports only 24bit lossless max.

I've also read online a while back that exporting '32bit' lossless will give you a 24bit file in a 32bit container, and that would make sense seeing as Logic cant't play back 32bit files, but can anyone confirm?

    Hi,

Is there any chance that Logic Pro 10 will EVER be out ? I mean, it is really planned ?

I have read many posts in this discussion and I haven't seen any clue, any leak about that... Am I missingsomething ?

Isn't Apple simply abandonning Logic ?

Tell me that I'm wrong, I want to believe !
