Using iTunes 11 on my Mac and having problems too. I'm not getting an error message however.
When I enter the code, I am prompted for my Apple ID/password, which I enter, but nothing happens after that. I've also had iTunes ask me for my password repetedly even after entering it, with no sucsess in downloading the file.

I don't have that problem, but get a:
An unknown error occurred (-50).
Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again.
using iTunes for windows, as I just notice I posted this in the wrong forum.
