iPhone 5 time and date issues

    After numerous phone calls to Verizon and Apple over 3 weeks of experiencing the same issue.  I have gone a week straight with no further issues.  Verizon kept saying that it is an Apple issue and Apple said they are very aware of the issue and working to fix the issue.  As of one week ago, they said that a fix was anticipated in a week or two.  Two days after I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it had been resolved.  I had no carrier or Apple software updates on my iPhone 5.  I pass numerous cell phone towers throughout the day with the issue only occurring at my home. Verizon passed my ticket off to Apple to fix the issue, but persistence in contacting Verizon, is what ultimately fixed the issue.  Samsung Galaxy 3 on the same towers are experiencing the same issue with LTE enabled.  After the second call, they asked me info about the tower location that I was experiencing the issue with.  The problem and the solution seem to lie with Verizon, keep calling and hopefully all the issues will be found and a solution put in place.

    Earlier in this thread they mention that Sprint leases cell towers form Verizon. Which still leaves the door open to this being a Verizon issues as opposed to Apple. I have had the time problem since the week the 5 came out, I got a data refund a month ago from Verizon and the problem seemed to stop for about three weeks, now it is back, my time changes almost every day. Now the time is only off by 30-40 minutes as opposed to the earlier drastic time and dates problems.

    I live in Carmel California. My wife and I both have Iphone 5's that had the time and date issues.

    I was advised by Apple to go to Verizon and have the Sim cards replaced. It has been 5 days and we

    have not had the time or date change.

    Hi, I am now having the time problem as well. I am on AT&T and have notice I loose about 2 minutes a day. Has anyone found a real fix yet?

    There is no fix that I can find. I have had this probelm since the 1st week the iphone 5 was released. If you go into a Verizon Store half the people in there act like this is news to them! I don't buy it. I was in Best Buy today (i did not get my phone there) but just for the heck of it, I went over to the cell phone department and asked the reps there if they have had many complaints about time/date problems with the new iPhone and all three of them said yes we have had many complaints about the time probelm. Just so happened that my phone time was off by 45 minutes so I showed them. The Best Buy cellular reps all agreed that it has been almost all Verizon phones and they were told it is Verizon network issue. I think I speak for the majority of posters on here when I say our time and date probelm is far worse than loosing just a few minutes day. When my time goes off it goes way off... sometimes days or weeks off. At best it only is off by 30-40 minuets. If you are just loosing a minute or two here and there, you may have a different issue.

    I turned off my LTE and have not had another problem with my time. I am a sprint customer and has experienced this problem since the like of my iPhone 5. Try going to settings and turning off the LTE option and see if that works.

    I haven't had the problem since the iOS update. Over the Thanksgiving week, I traveled from SoCal to Provo, Utah (BYU). I went in and out of LTE/3G/No Service several times. My phone didn't even hiccup the whole trip. Changed time zones when it was supposed to and everything.

     

    I hope this gets fixed for everyone else soon!

    I noticed it this week, Im in Eau Claire, WI.  A reboot of the phone fixes it, but doing that daily is getting old.  I noticed today it occured shortly after I plugged in via usb.

    HunterX3, based on my experinece and by reading other posts on this board, it appears the situation resolves itself over time.  there have been many attempt to find a "fix" within the iPhone, but seamenly with no avail.  i myself am with Sprint (which i understand, in many cases, uses Verizon towers) and i have an iPhone 5.   ihave been in contact with Apple and with Sprint and neither one seems to know what the problem is (i dont believe either of them).  my phone's time was off for probably a month straight.  then, the problem went away and i have not expereinced an issue since.  i gather, based on the seemingly lack of activity on this board in recent weeks, that the problem is being resolved by the guilty party(s).  i would suggest, wearing a watch, not using your phone as an alarm clock and stop relying on your phone as an accurate clock in general.  my guess will be that this issue will continue for a while until your area is fixed (most likely meaning the phone provider being the guilty party).  just my two cents.

    I'm happy to report that it has been a solid 2 weeks since anyone here has had any issues with their iPhone 5. We've deployed a total of 8 of them and I've not heard of any complaints or issues.

     

    This seems to be resolved for the Louisville, Kentucky area.

    I hear what you are saying.  I'm glad my work issues these.  I have had nothing but trouble with this thing.  I still suffer from the Wifi issues and now this date time issue, which seems to be tied to Verizon LTE.  If I had my choice, I'd be moving on to a differnt phone - WP8 of some sort.

    Really glad I returned my iPhone 5! This problem appears to have become more prevalent not less. And, while the time shift is inconvenient for using the phone as a timekeeper do not forget that it will not send or receive text messages while the time is not synced which is the primary reason I sent mine back; who wants to have to resync the darn phone before they can send a message! iPhone 4s is working great! Good luck to those of you who kept the iPhone 5 past the return period....
