    Hello,

Does Control+left click work for that function?

Hi BD, yes that does work but it's annoying to have lost the funtionality that I had before the reinstall.  It effectively makes my mouse into one of the original single button apple mouses.

Yes, it was just a test, I think you need a new Mouse.

I just upgraded to 10.7.5 on a Mac Pro with a (relatively new) wired mighty mouse and I'm having the exact same problem. Trying everything I can think of, but it's not helping. Zap nvram, reparing permissions, deleting prefs, etc. Hope someone has a solution.

Are you able to test with a non-Apple USB Mouse?

I have tried my mouse on my wifes G4 macbook and it still works fine.  I wonder whether it's something to do with apple not supporting non intel stuff any more?  Then again photo-mark has a relatively new wired mouse so that can't be right.

I have got a non-apple usb mouse but that doesn't work at all.  Would I need a driver for that?  Just trying to think back to my pre mac days.

many thanks for all the suggestions.

Hmmm, no, no drivers needed, now it sounds like a bad install... unless you might have some old Mouse software installed???

    If 10.7.0 or later...

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

After searching around, I found some suggestions to try USB Overdrive, which adds a pref pane with additional input controls. While I'd rather have a native solution and fix the underlying problem, USB overdrive did work (and it has some additional features which may be nice). I now have full mouse function back.

Many thanks for that both BDAqua and photo-mark.  I've gone down the usb overdrive route which works perfectly.  The other suggestions may have worked as well but I just don't have time at the moment.

    Again, many thanks
