My iPhone5 keep losing 3G/EDGE (data services) when changing between Wifi >3G/EDGE. Frustrating as only a restart of the phone would help. Airplane mode doesn't help at all.I know it happens to LTE network. Anyone experiencing this? With other telco?

    ....so let me get this right, when you turn off wifi you lose 3g for a moment and your worried about it?

     

     

     

    ...this is normal. if i turn my wi fi off it takes a sec for cellular to kick in.

    Not really. When I turn off Wifi, 3G never comes back at all. :-)

     

    It does happen sometimes when its at a No Service area, and coming back to a 3G/EDGE area, data doesn't comes back as well.

     

    Tried on 3 different iphone 5, same result.. crap..

     

    Any idea?

    reset network settings or get a carrier with a better coverage area

    tried on Maxis as well. same story...

    According to this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937, DiGi does not support very much on the iPhone, and does not support LTE. Since you are seeing this on numerous phones, I would check with the carrier and see if it may have something to do with the SIM or the carrier. See if they support the iPhone 5.

    Tried that as well. And with crappy customer services here in Malaysia, I get a respond,

     

    "Well sir, I don't see it happening with other phones.. maybe you should change phone. So, can I close your ticket now? "

     

    Supecting telco issues. Not sure if others had the same.

    Well, I do not recall seeing other posts regarding those carriers, however you are right, it has to do with the carrier. With poor reception, it is difficult to isolate problems being the phone or the carirer. You may need to check with the carrier and them possibly get a new SIM. Since this problem shows on more than one device, I would say it is carrier related. Has the iPhone been released in Malaysia yet? If it is not officially supported, that could also be an answer to your problem.

    So any luck in solving the issue? My gf is having the same problem and she is on DIGI network. Losing 3G/EDGE after switching from wifi. Airplane mode didnt help much and the only solution is to restart the phone.

     

    Read somewhere that reset network settings will solve the issue. will ask her to try that later tonight. Let me know if you have found the solution. Thanks.

    I had this problem for an entire day using Digi. I then Reset Network Settings in the Settings app and the phone restarted. After restarting the 3G and Edge was back. It must be a carrier settings issue.

    I had the similar problem with intermittent 3G connection 1st day using my iphone 5 with Digi data plan which requires a phone reset to bring back the 3G. Searched thru forums and tried multiple workarounds and found out that this is the best workaround so far for myself at least - turn off auto mode in carrier settings. 2 days and counting with my 3G still on, hope to continue to stay on..

    I am using Maxis Internet Plan but I still cannot even connect internet using cellular data until now..!

    Did you do any complaint? Where you buy your iphone? If starting from day one you can't use cellular data most likely your iphone is default
