I know there's probably an easy answer to this but I seem to have brain lock at the moment

If I attach an external drive to my Mac and then double click on the drive icon on the desktop a window will open. The window has the toolbar on the top which I don't want so I go into View and select hide toolbar. Now that toolbar stays hidden while the drive is mounted. But when I unmount or unplugg the drive and then mount it again or plug it back in the toolbar is back on the window. Is there anyway in ML to have the toolbar disabled for good on external drives?

Try setting up your window as you want it, then press COMMAND-J to open the configuration dialog. Make any changes you wish in the dialog, then check the checkboxes at the top at the top, if needed, and click on the Make Default button on the bottom.

If this doesn't work it's because Finder is not storing the information on the external drive, so you will have to change everytime the external drive is removed and reconnected.
