Hi all, my kid downloaded a song that cuts off 30 seconds from the end. She'd like to a working version without having to repurchase. I've combed the website and itunes, but cant find any info about this, though I'm sure there must be. Can someone briefly tell me please how we resolve this (I realize it's only a cheap downloaded music file, but still....) Thanks for any help!

You can re-download any previous iTunes Store purchase at no additional cost.  You do it from the iTunes Store Purchased screen.  From the main iTunes Store screen, look toward the right side of the window, to find Purchased (under QUICK LINKS).

On the Purchased screen, you can find and re-download previous purchases as many times as you need, even from another computer (that you have authorized to use your iTunes Store account).

However, if iTunes thinks the song is already downloaded and on that computer, you'll first need to delete it from its iTunes library.  So, in your iTunes music library, find the song.  Select it and delete it, choosing the option to move the song file to the Trash.  THEN, go back to the Purchased screen and find that song.  You should now be able to click on the download ("cloud") button next to the song to re-download it.

Hey d-spin. This is not strictly true. Audiobooks cannot be re-downloaded. In the purchases section, only films, music and tv series can be redownloaded. I have audiobooks on my iPad but when I try to download them onto my iPhone it says, "you have already purchased this audiobook, do you want to purchase again". Obviously I don't. The only way I suppose to avoid this is to sync the iPad with iTunes and then sync the phone with iTunes that now has the audiobooks in it. Unfortunately I'm travelling for 1 year and don't have a computer to sync to.

    Any other way around this?

There is a "Books" category on the Purchased screen, but I guess that is only for written books, not audiobooks.  My guess is that Apple was not able to re-negotiate the contract with audiobook publishers that allows past purchases to be redownloaded at no cost, like for other types of iTunes Store purchases.  The only way I can think of to do what you want to do is to find a computer running iTunes to act as the go between.

You may also want to try contacting Apple's (official) support team, starting at this link.

Many years ago (before redownloads were free), I lost some iTunes Store purchased songs due to a hard drive failure.  The support team allowed me to redownload the songs again.  They didn't have to do it, but they did...  That was for songs only (no audiobooks) and it was a long time ago.  But it wouldn't hurt to ask the people who can actually make it happen.
