Typically what you use to track the amount of footage used is an EDL. Look at all the clips with the certain REEL number you assigned the footage, or the clip name, and the EDL will show you the IN and OUTs of that footage.
That is free.
If you want to spend a little money and have a better way to do this, get Sequence Clip Reporter from Intelligent Assistance:
And export an XML and import it into this app. It is much cleaner and easier to read.

Another fast and simple way to do this is to open your bin, select all the clips and color code them to...say green (right click and go to label and choose a color). Then in your timeline those green clips will be revealed. This obviously won't give you any info like the EDL or other method but for a quick n easy way to reveal the clips this works just fine.
