I just upgraded to iTunes 11 and noticed that iTunes DJ is missing from the Sidebar as well as from the dropdown menu. I used this feature often at my house for parties so iPhone users could have fun suggesting music.

What happened to this feature? Is it still there, but hidden?

As far as I can tell it's been integrated throughout and seems to be called Up Next now. Anywhere you see a track, if you over over it you will see an icon similar to (>) that you can click on and get a menu where Add to Up Next is an option. There also other areas where you will see , such as in search results where that will Add to Up Next as well. In the player are up top to the right there is a bulleted list icon ( three stacked • –– ) that if you click on you see the Up Next list and can drag songs into order.

It's different. I wish Up Next appeared as a Playlist so that you could get all of the information that used to be avialable. For now I'll leave my opnion at that and see how using it feels after a week or so. I was a very heavy iTunes DJ user, and I think this will cover most bases. But there were times that now I see myself having to create a playlist where previously I would have used iTunes DJ.

My early reaction is that Up Next is a Step Back. You can't easily see a full list of what you have played and what is upcoming. You can see one or the other, and, in now-customary Apple fashion, the method is more pretty than practical.

It would seem that Apple still considers it desirable to competely quit iTunes and reopen it to change libraries.

It's a bit cleaner and easier to see, but not earthshaking.

It looks like you can no longer let people connect via the Remote app to vote for songs, request songs, etc.

The functionality is still in the Remote 3.0 app that was released today, if you connect to an iTunes 10 with iTunes DJ running, so it is still in the iOS app... but all that functionality seems to be missing from iTunes 11. The "Up Next" feature doesn't seem to do all that iTunes DJ did.

    That *****.

Please don't take iTunes DJ away from me, I'm begging.  I really like the new iTunes with the exception that iTunes DJ is missing.  I used that function literally everyday.  I'M LOST, APPLE PLEASE HELP!

There is no practical way to have music randomly chosen and still be able to add to your mix whenever you feel the need.  Am I missing something?  Is there a function or button I'm not seeing?

wow, iTunes 11 is out for a couple of hours and after reading this, I stick with the old 10.7 version. iTunes DJ is the only thing I would really miss. it was a perfect thing for shuffeling al my music (and that's alot of music) with the ability of requesting songs through the remote. why does apple screw so many things up lately?????

I'm missing it too. It seems Apple doesn't like its users anymore. I've been waiting for this release since september, it gives us a real improvement in every detail, but I miss this little feature. Up Next is great, but has not exactly the same functionality that iTunes DJ had (a little less). I hope apple reconsiders this.

    You are missing something.

    1. Play a song.
    2. Click random.
    3. Find another song and add it to Play Next.

But in DJ you could see your entire library or playlist and simply move up or down tracks in any order to be played next. Great when you have parties and you want to skip tracks. It showed up to 100 of the chosen songs.

So... open Up Next and move the tracks to the order you want? I'm failing to see the problem here.

that is really stupid, in iTunes DJ you just hit the play button and your entire library played randomly.

now you first have to select a song, play that song and the select every song you want to play and add it seperatly.

    really simplicity is everything
