It does work, but it's not the latest version which is why the app store is asking me to update it but because of the issue we are having, it can't be updated at this moment, so the notice won't go away !

I have the same problem with a brand new MBP 13" Retina (otherwise a fantastic product).

I bought the laptop especially for editing with Final Cut X. But the latest Final Cut X requires OSX 10.8.2. So here I am waiting for the OSX patch to actually get to work.

Hopefully Apple will soon release the patch.

edinbuffalo I know what you mean that number 1 over the App store icon is really frustrating, which is really silly because it is such a tiny thing......

Waiting on it as well.  I have audio hardware that is 10.8.2 or 10.8 ONLY and new retina mbp shipped with 10.8.1.  Nearly bricked the machine by trying to download the update from apple.com rather than the app store, had to reinstall the OS.

Can no one from Apple update us on when 10.8.2 will likely be available for those of us with the rMBP 13"?

I've not been able to use iPhoto or the Facebook integration since I bought it nearly 2 weeks ago. This product is not functioning as advertised and 2 weeks could become 2 months for all we know. Apple should compensate for this and make clear to new purchasers that some of the advertised features will not work after you run through the set up process

I agree, it is disappointing that we are still waiting for this update.

More disappointing is Apple's failure to keep us updated on this via the website, lack of apology, and their continuing to peddle nobbled products to the consumer without bothering to tell them that they have limited functionality compared to that advertised.

My personal opinion is that this is worse than the iOS6 maps debacle in many ways as we are buying a £1600 premium supposed "PRO" product that has less functionality and features than other Apple products that cost significantly less and this is something Apple should address on this forum.

I didn't mind waiting a week or so as mistakes can happen but 2 weeks plus means either serious issues or lack of response - take your pick since Apple has not cared to respond to this. Will I be able to share my Xmas photos with my family ........ I'm begining to wonder!

It's outrage that no one from Apple is addressing this issue that is obviously very common and not just an isolated incident ! The worst part for me is actually the Facebook issue because without being able to update to 10.8.2, Facebook isn't completely integrated anymore so all the features relating to it can't be used at the moment. I can't believe I pay extra to get a better product and instead I have to deal with this and no one from Apple is stepping up to make it right !

Ok, it seems they just released OS X Update 10.8.2 and iTunes 11 on Mac App Store. At last.

Yes - I can finally access iPhoto and facebook integration seems to be working. Better late than never! I wonder what the issues were and why the 13" retina and mac mini needed a different build.
