How can I get all photos, 7000 of them in to  one file so when I am doing a book, they all come

up down the side.

You can not put 7000 (or even 2) photos into one file - a file holds one and only one photo

If you are making a book you probalby do not want all 7000 photos in the project - it would be totally unmanageable  --  the normal way to make a book is to collect the photos you want in the book in an album and then select all the photos in that album and create your book

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Any photo you want in the book must be added to it - drag the photo(s) to the book project on the left

If you really want all 7000 there (and I do not think you really do) select photos view of teh library, turen off show event titles and select all and drag all to the book

To see the photos you must add them to the project (third attempt to explain) by dragging them to it

try watching the tutorials and see if that helps - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2334

LarryHN is correct. Dragging the photos to the project will not add them to your book, ( you will not have abook containing 7000 photos) it will just add them to available choice of photos you see on the right hand side when you are woking on your book. After you have done this, you can select the individual photos you want from the photo browser on the right of the project window, and place them in you book.
