Hey! Just wondering what sort of upgrade options would be available for this computer, it's a powermac G5, the same as the one here

I have the option to purchase this computer for 160 dollars, although the one I will be purchasing will be upgraded to 500gb hard drive, 128mb video card, and 3 gigs of ram. So like I said, what other upgrade options are available, and do you think this is a good deal? I'm looking to make a recording studio in my home and I was thinking this could be a good option. Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

Hi Benjamin, I'd consider it a good price, but depends what you want/need to do with it.

8GB of RAM possible is a great plus, but the top OSX you can run is 10.5.8, does that work for what you want? No iPhone 5, no iCloud except eMail, etc.

What software do you want to use?

    What MIDI devices?

Are the devices and software still available and affordable?

    Are plug ins still available?

Will you be happy with a dead end purchase and with devices and software that will likely NOT move to Intel machines should you desire one?

Answer these with regard to PPC Mac and OS X 10.5.8 (no later available) compatibility and you will begin to see whether or not it is a viable path......

Ram, storage and video cards are the only possible upgrades. The CPU is impossible to upgrade.
