I have an albumn I deleted. the photos are deleted from iphoto, the trash is emptied. searching for the file in the little magnifying glass shows the images i want deleted still. When I try a search for the filename in finder they do NOT show up... WHERE ARE THESE **** FILES STORED?

I can "delete all" photos from my iphone, then go into itunes and SYNC THE **** ALBUM full of photos that I deleted from iphoto.

HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS?

ubuntu?

You actually need to learn how to use iPhoto - photos are not files and iPhoto is in no way about files - it is only about photos

To delete a photo in iPhoto select the photo in an event and press delete - empty the iPhoto trash - do this in small batches of 100 or less as iPhoto may not handle large trash delets well

To delete from an album depress the command and option keys and press delete and empty the iPhoto trash - still small batches

for all iPhoto keyboard shortcuts see http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto/shortcuts/

Using iPhoto 11 photos deleted from iPhoto then go to the System Trash. Empty that.

Seriously, if this is your first Mac you might expect there to be a learning curve, just like I would have going to Ubuntu.

Please, tell use all the things you've done already so we don't waste your time - and ours - making suggestions you already know don't work. Don't be afraid to give detail. It helps.

When searching for the files in finder, nothing comes up. I have opened up my iphoto library and looked through the "masters" folders as well as the, "thumbnails" and manually checked all of the files. They seem to all start with "2012" in these folders, however this file is tagged to "2010-....". I have also attempted to search for the file from the terminal, and get no results there (although I might be doing this wrong, but I suspect apple has just mucked with that too)

Your post is not at all clear - I think you are saying that nothing you do on the Mac sees the photos but you see them on your iPhone? If that is the case give the iPhone forum a try. It sound to me like they are deleted from your computer.

Apple did nothing to the Terminal.

Any chance you have a second iPhoto Library ?

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' How many are listed?
