I also need to note the following configuration settings;
Screen Saver is turned off on Windows 7 PC.
NIC hibernation is turned off on Windows 7 PC.
Both boxes are hardwired to a Cisco 1811w router.
I think my next steps are going to be running Wireshark and seeing if I can identify any problems with the actual network communication that is occuring.

I can play the first file, on the ATV fine, upon starting HomeSharing in iTunes. Any attempts to play a second file fail. I basically have to go into iTunes, stop HomeSharing, and then start it back after each file that is played.
This issue has existed since I purchased the ATV a few months ago, but regardless, both the PC and the ATV have been rebooted a few times since.

I had the same problem, iTunes would only play one thing on my Apple tvs and then stop. Fixed that this morning by setting my ports to the correct setting, apple tvs work as advertised now, my problem is all our iPads and iPhones won't connect to the iTunes library, the little circle thing goes halfway and then stops. I must admit this is an improvementoveritunes 10.7 as the I things now see home share, it just won't load".

I followed the guide here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2972. Hope this helps
I finally got the atvs working reliably but iPads and iphones won't finish connecting. The little circle stops halfway, still it is an mprovement, they couldn't see Share at all before today. Will keep working on it.

With Windows Firewall disabled, I was able to watch a TV episode, and then tried a music file, and then another TV episode. Both the music file and second tv show started up without a hitch.
Generally speaking, it's odd that Windows Firewall would permit the first media playback, and then none of the others, but that seems to have been the issue.
