What happened to iTunes DJ in iTunes11? This has been one of the best features of iTunes. The "next" functionality is good, but the brilliance of iTunes DJ was that it played highli rated songs more frequently, allowing a smart way of playing songs in random order from the entire library

Same concern as the about poster.  This feature was great for parties and created a que of music much like a jukebox with the remote app.

It's gone, along with the artwork viewer (so you could see the art of songs not actually playing) and Find Duplicates, among other things.

I would not have updated my version of iTunes if I had known that I would lose iTunes DJ.   I think Apple has transgressed from creating what users want and have digressed to the Microsoft approach to shove it down the consumer's throats.  I'm out of business without the DJ feature

Avoid upgrade software automatically without first checking what it does and does not do.  Make sure you have a backup (and you must have a backup if you are using this professionally) to which you can revert.

iTunes is general consumer software.  If you're been able to use it for professional DJing then that's fortuitous but not the target group.

I find this equaly outrageous. Not a day goes by that I don't sit down at the iMac, fire up iTunes DJ and go about my business.  APPLE WHAT WERE YOU THINKING????

I didn't use iTunes DJ professionally, but only for personal parties with friends/acquaintances.

One of the major frustrations I have with iTunes 11 is the playback buffer.

In the previous version of iTunes you could instantly jump to another point in the playback by clicking on another point on the progress bar.  With ver 11, clicking on another point on the playback progress bar causes a full 3-seconds of dead air before iTunes can re-reference playback.  Very anoying and certainly an indication of poorer playback buffering.

This is so uncharacteristic of Apple.  I have been using Apple products since 1987 and never felt so betrayed before.

I agree, I want DJ back!  I have an extensive library, and I use DJ to fill music into my iPhone.  How can I get the randomness I love now???  Apple needs to bring it back.

I use iTunes DJ in my home network. I love being able to select a playlist as my basic selection of songs and having the ability to add other songs using the Remote app with my iPhone. Bad move in getting rid of it. Please bring back iTunes DJ! Or explain how I can keep the functionality that I love having.

Yes, it is too bad indeed! I've reinstalled the OS (gave me iTunes 10.6 back) DID NOT upgraded to version 11. ItunesDJ is in the house again!!
