I am posting this again because I thought of a better way of appoaching it.

Is it possible to have local (not cloud synced) VIP lists in the mail app?  For example, my wife and I have on our iPhones cloud notes as well as local notes.

Thus her screen is not cluttered with my notes, and vice-versa.

For a simlar reason, I do not want the VIP list on my Mac, but I want it on our iPhones. Problem is that the VIP list syncs on the cloud. So, is there any way to create local VIP lists (only on the device)?

Thanks in advance

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 2.6 GHz Core i7, 8GB RAM

Your VIP list is shared across your devices in iCloud's contacts, not iCloud's mail.  So if you turn off contacts in iCloud, you can have a device-specific VIP list.
