Q: Is it necessary to have a PC in order to have a ipad

I find it very redundant to realize in order for me to have a ipad I also have to have a PC . I'm I not getting the whole picture, is there really a way to use a ipad without a PC. If so enlighten me PLEASE

I ask because I really want to get rid of all my PC's and just have the newest ipads, can this be done ?

I also have a issue. I upgraded my PC to Windows 8. I restored my prior System after and although I have most of my items back none of my prior ipad purchases in apps are there anymore. The music I bought is but notne of my app purchases. Why is that and how do I fix it ?

iPad 2, iOS 6.0.1, I just want a Ipad not a PC too

Wow that's good news. Tell me though about when you get a new ipad upon bootup it asks to connect to a PC and itunes how do you accomplish that without a PC ?

While it can be used without a PC do not be mislead, it cannot replace a computer.

A Tablet is limited in what it can do, its not designed for content reration or complex file management,.

Don't expect the iPad to do what a standard PC can do you'll be friustrated and dissapointed.

Thanks for your input. I am very aware of the frustrations but I'm a retired techie guy now and most of my computer work these days is strickly web searches and research and email. I gave up on the random times I may need Adobe Flash Player it's just not that big a deal. I do wish Apple would reach an agreement with Adobe so we could all use ipads with flash player but till then I'm content.
