Mac OS XI was responding to the OP - in your case, I'd get the machine to an Apple Store or an AASP straight away. You're still under warranty and I've read of no problems with the Retina display and black screens.

MacBook Pro
Retina, Mid 2012
Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB
Software OS X 10.8.2 (12C3006)
started this yesterday - during use, the display first of all went a transparent pink and then within seconds, black. reset pram; re-booted still no display. a few searches on the web had no solution that worked.
tried again this morning - still black. turned the computer upside-down this morning (display was closed) to get my serial #. turned the computer back upright, opened display - voila! - display is back! thought maybe this was just coincidence until i booted computer tonight - black display. again tried turning computer upside-down (this time i left the display open) - voila! - display came back as i inverted it!!
will be calling customer support on monday.
Cheers, earthling
