So will I be able to then load my previously saved iphone backup to the phone once I go through this recovery mode?
Does technology EVER work the way it's supposed to?!
Millions upon millions, of users, have zero issues.

Well now when I try to restore it says the "iphone can not be restored. The device can not be found"
What could be the issue & how can I fix this to get my phone back working?
I always seem to have issues with upgrading.
So do millions of other people I'm sure.

Which version of iTunes are you running?
If it isnt iTunes 11, update. If it is iTunes 11, i would start by uninstalling iTunes, and of course reinstalling.
Try with another USB to Dock Connector cable if you have one on hand, just to rule out the cable.
On the same train of thought, make certain that your dock connection on the device is free of debris, and also corrosion (a bluish green colour accumulating on the 30 pins).

Well I had itunes 11 downloaded but seems that I forgot to restart the computer to finalize the install & that's why it wasn't seeing my iphon. After a restart it seems it is successfully installing everything.
