Can it be so that You set off the iDVD BUG ?
To do this one
• Makes a movie
• Import it into iDVD and fix layout etc
• See something wrong in Movie and go back to fix this
• RETURNING to iDVD - It will notice and ask You to either Up-Date or Cancel
Non of them works
All chapters now point to Chapter one and other things goes wrong too
alt.1 - Empty iDVD Assets (not my favourite)
alt. 2 - I do: Trash the iDVD Project and start a BRAND NEW one - as this works without any problems.

It's true, iDVD can be very "picky" about what video and audio formats it accepts as input. One way you can smooth things over is by changing the way your video and audio are encoded before importing them into iDVD. It's not a silver bullet, but I've come up with a method that's worked well for me and saved me a lot of time. I documented what I learned here, feel free to check it out and good luck!
