You have to view your music by "Songs", and then make sure the "iCloud Status" field is checked (where the "Name", "Time", Artist", etc. headings are shown.
Returning to the main subject: If I try to update iTunes Match it hangs on Step 1 or else I get an error message. The only fix seems to be turning off Match and restarting it. Honestly... if this service ever worked the way it was supposed to it would be great... but it still has a ton of issues.

Thank you for the help, I should have known that. I only use Itunes match for my atv and when I do get an Ipad this Xmas, I will not use Itunes match to download my music from the cloud, Id rather have the mp3s that I have uploaded or matched with Itunes from my hard drive.

Everything is working now. Matching is working fine.
I am really impressed by iTunes 11. The visual user interface change really make all the difference.
Just to add my opinion,
If there is one serious improvement on iTunes 11 is to add a shortcut key to toggle between Library and Store mode. Efficiency is important to encourage browsing and reach.
Glad that cover flow is gone because I just didn't see its usefulness, and its metaphor of imitating a CD rack (you flip the cd through the rack) is outdated in this digital era. My bet is coverflow will go extinct in next MacOS update.

It's not working here for me. I updated to 11 this morning and it's stuck on step 1 "Waiting for apple to deliver...". Afre failing three times match seems to have disabled it's self. I've turned it back on but still stuck on step 1.
Any others still having this issue or in the UK?

it didn't work until today; after dowloadining itunes 11 it seemed all the same, stuck once more and 4002 error. THen i switched off and turned on ITUNES MATCH (later this try , it wasn't succesfull) , and now, holding my breath.... it seems to work, updating in real time - after, let's say, 3 months of pain.
so SWITCH OFF, TURN ON ITM on itunes 11.

I found that even though I keep getting this error iTunes Match is working.

I just started experiencing this problem. Everytime I start iTunes, it asks me to sign in again, stating that my iCloud session has expired. Itunes match songs are listed but unavailable. iCloud symbol continues to search. The session eventually errors out.

This worked for me. I flushed DNS and then restarted itunes 5 times. It worked everytime. Cant believe it was this simple. Hope this sticks.

I had the same issue. Downloaded iTunes 11 for Mac and iTunes Match would not sync back up. Tried restarting and a couple other things mentioned here and nothing worked. Someone else may have mentioned this and I skimmed over it, but I finally got mine to work by deauthorizing iTunes (under "Store" in the top menu), and then reauthorized iTunes on the machine. Started iTunes and restarted iTunes Match (also under "Store" in the top menu), and all seems good now. It took a while to go back through 6000 songs, but they're all working.

I got my work mac to start matching again after a deauthorization and then authorizing again then turning itunes match back on again just like Eric above. I have not tried on my personal mac though and that is the one using iTunes 11
