Same very slow wifi connectivity on an iphone5 w/ ios6.0.1.  Purchased as preorder from Sprint so way out of return window.  It worked ok for a while, now it's consistently below 1Mbps while my laptop averages 25Mbps on a Linksys 802.11n.  I tried switching to WEP, no change in speed.  Reset network settings. No change.  Reset router, no change. Tried google DNS, no change. My wife's iphone5 on sprint has the same problem.

    Pretty lame.

Have you tried turning LTE off? I did this, which took care of my not being able to maintain wifi connection issue.

Yes, tried that.  Didn't change anything.  I've sent a feedback note to Apple and filed a troubleshooting request with them.

I did a hard reset (holding the power and home buttons down until the phone reset) and that fixed the issue for me.  Something tells me this is a temporary fix, though as I have had the issue multiple times.

    Guys........quick question.

I cant get my home wi fi to work so reset network settings. Last week i had connected to my uni's wifi with no problems, but now my uni one wont work.

in order for me to set up uni network a guy at college i.t had to do it for me

did 'resetting network' settings delete uni's settings to get on to its network?

    thank u

Yes, resetting network settings deleted all of the wifi network settings stored on your phone.  You will have to get the IT at your university to set your phone up again.

Ok so I'm not sure if this issue is the same as others but from what I have read it probably is.

I currently own an iPhone 5 and am living on campus at a university.

The problem for me is that my WiFi would work for a certain amount of time just completely fine. The wifi bars stays at a constant 2-3 bars. However after a while when I try to load up a page on the internet, it would not work, even when the wifi still shows 2-3 bars.

I would either wait it out, around a few minutes before it starts working again OR I would manually go into the wifi settings, toggle it off and then back on for it to work again. This process would then repeat.

Now the WiFi I am using is "secured". I am not sure what type of security it is as it's the university's wifi. The thing is there is also a "guest" wifi but when connected to that I get approximately 8-10times slower speed than on secure.

My iPhone 4 never had this problem here so I am not sure what the source of the issue is. My iPhone 5 is on the latest iOS as well.

    Thoughts?

PS - I tried the resetting network settings thing and the same issue would occur with the internet not working even though 2-3 wifi bars show.

And by not working I mean that the page would just take forever to load with that loading symbol next to the wifi bars.

Bingo. Wifi says it is working but the connection is either very slow or hangs without error.

I was running into the same exact issues.  I tried everything on this thread and my wifi would randomly hang and the only way to get it to work again was to reset the phone.  It seems though if I just ignored it and put the phone down after a few hours it would reestablish the connection.

I gave up and take it back to the store and got a replacement.  Since then the phone has been in perfect working order.  I would suggest people with similar issues as mine where you totally are unable to use the wifi after proglonged use go and get a replacement.

why do you guys keep getting replacements? Don't you understand that its a bad design - has nothing to do with a particular phone.

even a million replacements won't change bad design....every phone is designed the same... if there's  a softtware fix, it'll probably come once apple realizes its hurting its bottom line.

if its a hardware design flaw, its bad forever.

My third replacement still works fine since the day I got it so I'm guessing they aren't all the same.
