I'm thinking of upgrading my 2007 iMac with one of the new ones.  I've not upgraded my hardware  since moving to Apple/Logic Pro as my DAW.

If I restore my current TimeMachine backup on the new machine when it arrives, will it recognize Logic Pro 9 or will it think I've exceeded my licenses because the new machine is "different" than the old one from which the back ups were made?

For bonus points, anyone know the answer to the same quesiton for  the following third party libraries:

  • OmniSphere
  • Stylus
  • Komplete 8

Thanks.

There should be no problem regarding the number of 'licences'. You may want to consider doing a fresh (clean) install of all your applications etc rather than using "restore' from a Time Machine backup. From these forums, there would appear to be some issues with restoring applications etc.

Your "personal files" should be OK from a Restore.

You will need to re-authorise all of these. Spectrasonics (Omni & RMX) have never been a problem for me. Komplete should also be fine.

    Hi

Note also that you will need to check compatibility of all your applications, plugins etc, with Mountain Lion.

The ones you mentioned are fine with all the latest updates.
