Will it harm the MacbookAir?  If not, will the iTunes atomatically be updated if I click and drag itunes from my PC's external hard drive to the mac?

No it will not harm your MacBook Air.

Use the instructions in this Apple article to see how to do what you want.

    Best of luck.

Do not confuse iTunes with iTunes library.  iTunes (no "library") is a program/application.  The library is a set of files that is opened by the application.  You do not want to copy "iTunes" (the program) from your PC to a Mac - it won't run.  You do want to copy your entire iTunes folder from the drive to the Music folder on your Mac and replace the existing iTunes folder there (presumably it is empty, because you will be overwriting it).

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer -

    Thanks for the responses.

I need to know two things, basically, still after having read the links provided above:

    1. I manually (click/drag) copied iTunes folder to external drive, from my PC.  Is that okay, without going through the methods such as back up assistant,  etc.?

    2.  More importantly: NOw, If I connect the external drive to my MacbookAir, then click/drag the folder from the external drive to the Mac, will that pose a risk to the Mac?
