Hey all

Hoping someone can give me some troubleshooting tips for helping with a host of problems with my 1 yr old (and 2nd) Airport Extreme. Here's the issues I experience daily, or at least every couple of days.

1. All devices in the house will lose connection to the router. Router will not scan in Airport Utility. Hard power reset required.

2. I have one 24" iMac about 10 feet from router connected over wireless. Over time (like a few days) the internet speed will drop to about 1mb/s even though the connection info in Airport Utility from my other mac shows this mac wireless is connected at full g speed. Other devices in the house internet speed is normal at this time.

3. I have one iphone (out of 3) in the house that will just stop connecting to the router (regardless of distance to it). A reset of the phone does not fix the problem, however a reboot of the router does. Other devices in the house at this time are connected fine.

Firmware is up to date as are the airport utilty apps on both macs.

Main devices in the house that are usually connected:

24" imac

27" imac

Windows laptop

3 iphones

2 ipads

1 android phone

2 DVRs

1 HP wireless Printer

Note I am using dual band (radio mode is 802.11a/n - 802.11b/g) and there is no 5GHZ Name defined (using same name for both bands and letting the device pick the fastest one).

Muticast rate: Low

Transmit power: 100%

Wide channels: off

Security: WPA2 Personal

2.4GHZ Channel: 7 (have tried various)

5GHZ Channel: 161 (have tried various)

As noted this is my 2nd router in 2 years. The first one just completely died and this one was replaced by Apple care but was new in the box.

Any help or ideas of things to check much appreciated!

These are all classic symptoms of wireless interference that is causing interuptions and stabilty issues on your network.

Cordless phones, other wireless networks, wireless camera/security systems, televisions, satellite receivers, wireless mice, wireless keyboards, and any number of other electronic devices can cause these problems.
