Since I switched over to iCloud, I still see the MobileMe systempreference. How can iI delete or uninstall this item?

Hi Peter, fisrt make sure you use it to remove MobileMe login & PW, then try a Right click on it & choose remove MobileMe.

If that doesn't work I'll have to search where it is in 10.7 later.

Simply sign out in System Preferences>MobileMe, having made sure first that you stop any syncing or iDisk syncing.

The 'rght-click' and remove only works for preference panes you have added yourself. Do not attempt to remove the preference pane: never tamper with anything which is part of the System - you can do damage this way. The pane isn't doing any harm once signed out, and will disappear when you upgrade to Mountain Lion.

If you have signed out without stopping syncing you may find yourself getting error messages. If so, go to (user)/Library/Preferences/ByHost and remove all .plist files beginning with com.apple.DotMac and com.apple.idisk, then reboot.

Apple have hidden the user’s Library folder to casual viewers in Lion, in an attempt to stop new Mac users messing their machines up. To access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice.

There are no .plist files as you mention in preference folder. MobileMe1.png

If you click on MM you should login to MM, but of course it won't recognise the "old" account, 'cause I switched over to iCloud. Nothing else can be done. So perhaps the switchprocedure by Apple is incomplete?

From what I understand you to say you don't have a problem. Ignore the MobileMe preference icon and sign in in iCloud. You can't log into MobileMe because it no longer exists, and when you upgrade to Mountain Lion the preference pane will disappear anyway.
