Apple iTunes was a premier application, carrying much of the load for both iPod and iPhone. The most recent release indicates a complete loss in development team continutity and quality control. The UI changes and bugs were made by novice programmers, replacing maestros.
This app is so strategic to the iOS legacy, that allowing this to happen is a broad indictment of the post Steve Jobs era.
Get your acts together. Roll this crap back. Don't rush software out the door. Or Apple is in deep, deep, trouble.

Been spending hours trying to figure out iTunes 11. If everything worked, I wouldn't have a problem with it, as it's an improvement in looks. First the super long time it took to delete /add a song and change anything in song info drove me crazy. I found a sort of shortcut to speeding up the info edit by selecting from artists, which narrows the field down and possibly the processing work in the software. Now discovered that the option to adjust start time on a song (to clip silence) doesn't work. The sorting options also do not work. I can't seem to find a way to get the artist to come up under the Artists tab if they are selected as Part of a Compilation or various artist under Album Artist. The only way to find it by artist is under Song tab then clicking the Artist column. Not only is this an inconvenient method, it also looks like the old iTunes, which ain't sexy. What happened to Apple? First the Maps fiasco and now this. Plus, I don't remember getting a choice in this upgrade. With all the FUps lately, Apple should let us have the option of test driving an update before deciding to switch over. The Maps mess forced me to switch to Samsung Galaxy S3 for my phone. I really relied on the GPS/maps accuracy for navigation.

Rich, this is an excellent point, indeed for many users in the PC world it was iTunes that introduced them to Apple's UI style and feel. And it was a great introduction too - iTunes was a great way to play and organise your music. iTunes used to be so good to use, intuitive and easy - folks like my parent could just use it with ease and confidence. It wouldn't be too big a reach to say many PC users would ended up as Apple users due to iTunes.
And now Apple have gone and screwed it up. I am so thankful I rolled back to V10 and turned off Apple update notifications. I am actually shocked at how awful, just how buggy and poorly thought out this release is.
Apple were rubbish until Steve came back - although their legions of loyal iStuff users never seem to remember that period of Apples' history (maybe they are all too young?), now I fear they are in trouble again.

Elvellon, or anyone who can help: I followed the instructions about renaming the files, but it didn't work.I couldn't even get them to work in 11 again, so obviously i did something wrong! I think the problem is that I have multiple Itunes libraries from all different dates (hence the duplicates). I need to figure out a way to merge them all, I think. Luckily, I backed up all of the music on external H.D. before I renamed them. I tried System Restore, but it would only give me choice to roll back as far as 12/1, one day past when this mess started. So, I'm thinking that I will delete music files off of computer, put them back on from Hard Drive, but these were used in 11, so I'll still have renaming problem. So, I guess I need help with 2 things #1- How do I merge all of these together #2 How do I then know how to rename once they are merged?
Also, Adam, the nice guy from Apple called me when I was in the car tonight. He is looking into this issue, and he said they are swamped with complaints and issues. He spoke with programmers, and is going to send me an email about the response he got. Even though Apple really messed up on this, he has really been concerned and as helpful as he can be, considering the staff there were not prepared for this "update."

I like the concept of it. the pull down albums is really cool, especially with the multicolored album backgrounds. I also really like the new mini player and the add to next/play next feature as well as how that's set up. That being said I really don't like the lack of info on the album/artist sections and that left sidebar that has a list of all artists drives me crazy. I prefer the old itunes, to 11 but I'm sure if they could find a nice way to mash them together I'd like it even better.

Installing the latest version of iTunes caused hours of problems for my computer. What's up with that? And now when I plug in my iPod, iTunes doesn't know it's there and can't read it. What do I do???

Elvellon, in the short time I have seen his/her posts on here - has always been polite, helpful and (importantly) useful in helping users revert back to iTunes V10.
For some reason the Apple mods on this forum keep removing Evellon's posts on how to roll back. Why they are taking this attitude they have not explained as I have not seen anything that is rude, or promoting a competing platform or product.
But one of the mods doesn't like him/her at all and seem to make a big effort to remove the posts. Others ofcourse just repost it later so it is kind of pointless, but hey - pettiness will do what pettiness does..
They keep removing or editing the posts. Been happening for a few days now
Apple - here's an idea. Stop deleting posts and get on with fixing up the dogs breakfast that is iTunes 11. It is embarassing and shameful that you release such flawed software. Big fall from that high and mighty horse you have been prancing around on.

Yes I did post the instructions numerous times here but they have been deleted. Received a warning for
Apple that I was breaching Terms and Conditions of this forum. Not sure why really considering I was only telling people how to revert to 10.7, nothing else. I can't post links to help pages or use email addresses etc.
I can help you outside of these forums, my biography may help you.
