Q: HDMI Adapter, no audio

I have an iPad 2 and an apple HDMI adapter that I have used in the past, however it now will not provide audio from the iPad and when attempting to use it with 3rd and 4th generation iPod touches the error message of not a supported device is displayed.

    The error message is normal using an older HDMI adapter with a newer iPad.

    <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4108>

    "Note: When using an Apple Digital AV Adapter manufactured before early 2012 with iPad (3rd generation), you may see the "This accessory is not supported" alert. Dismissing the alert will allow you to use the adapter."

    If you dismiss the error on the new iPad, does audio work?

    Actually the adapter is only a couple months old and had worked previously with the iPad.  At this point, with the iPad, it plays video but no audio and with my daughter's 3rd generation iPod touch is where we see the error message.  I think dismissing it may work on hers but it's really the lack of audio that concerns because I purchased the adapter to work specifically with the HDMI ports on my televisions.
