Q: Pages and Numbers Not Syncing in iCloud

Bookmarks, Contacts and Calendars are all syncing with icloud. Works beautifully, however when I change a Pages or Numbers  document on my MacBook Pro, it doesn't sync with my ipad. itunes 10.5, ios 5, Lion 7.2 in use. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Rob

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1), 2.2 Ghz Intel Core i7, 8 GB Ram

Yes - this is really a sad and embarising mess for Apple. They just cant run network sedrvises - thet proof it over and over and over again. It was sad they could not buy DropBox - DB has a working solution...and I just cant understand why Apple - this mega rich company with the brightes brains on the planet - can fix this. Networkin over IP is very ver old - it's been around for decades. Why do they hire loosers for the iClod apartement? When they have the real stuff in all other apartements?

I dont have any sync at all betwen 3 Macs, one iPhon5 and one iPad3 since weeks - nothing at all - it's totally dead. It goes for the iWork apps and all third party apps using iClod. It's all stone dead.

Nope. And I've had sync before and my Cal, Mail, Notes, Bookmarks, etc syncs fine - it's only Docs not syncing.

I'm 110% absolutely shure it's iCöous server fault - my account is damaged - they have resetted many accounts with this assue - the tech people at iCloud departement is the only ones that can fix this. It's NOT a user fault.

Example: If I try to delete a file in iWork at the web interface (with Safari) everything crashes and a sign with warnings about server failure shows up and after that a sign about iWork closed down to maintance (week after week this maintance :-D). It's all just a crash. Logging out and in again and iWork is NOT closed down and I can try to delete again and it all starts over again.

Some acconts at iCloud is damaged - the data base is broken - that's it. How many accounts? I don't know - it's a very very deep secret at Apple.

Thanks for starting this thread. I didn't find the answer to my issue, sync to icloud from iwork applications (keynote, pages, numbers) was not working from my iMac. The reason I think was caused by a hard drive replacement in Apple's recall. Nonetheless, there could be lots of causes, the problem was any new iWord document created on my iMac would not sync to 1. icloud or 2. my devices. The other way around worked better - that is devices to iCloud, but not from iCloud to iMac.

    The solution:

Quit iWork Applications on your computer

In Finder: Click on Go with option key clicked. Go to Library.

Open up Mobile Documents folder. Drag (don't delete) com.apple.keynote, pages and numbers to desktop. Don't delete.

    Relaunch computer

Relaunch iWork Applications and add in files from the folders you put on your desktop.

Test by creating new document. Check iCloud in Safari. Give it a few minutes (or maybe several).

    Check your devices.

Remember what it was like to have some sync in your life.

Nope. Does not work. Tried it on 3 Macs. iCloud servers are corrupt - that's it. No sync Mac<>iCloud or iOS<>iCloud. Totally dead. Docs on web interface - Safari iClod - just says "Upoload error" or something...or "Uploading...". Trying to delete them produces serious error and iWork closes down - after logging in again it's all the same...again...

Why don't the worlds biggest IT company - the edge high-tetch supership Apple - fix this??? It's a mystery- I'm confused. Using DropBox now - works like a clockwork. Perfect. Apple just don't have the skills for cloud bizniz. Maybe after so many terrible failures in the cloud they just should close it down. Give up. Leave it to others.

My iCloud has not been syncing for more than a month. Also I cannot delete files via System Preferences. The iWork button on the iCloud web leads to communication error and an "under maintenance" message everytime.

Yes - exactly. I wonder how big the mess is and why media is silent...strange...it should be a scoop that Apple failed again in the Cloud - specially when one of Jobs last stands was that THIS TIME it would be Great...not like MobileMe :-D. The media silence is a mysterry.

Please se my earlier post. I was able to solve what sounds like the same problem by moving three folder from the library folder to my desktop and restarting. It now works flawlessly.

I've tried that trick with moving out the folders on 3 (three!) Macs - not working. So - 3 Macs, 1 iPad and 1 iPhone not syncing with iCloud and iCloud can't even be handled with web interface (Safari). Of course this have nothing to do with the folders in "User/Library/Mobile Documents" - it's the iCloud server in the USA...something about damaged files, rights management, login aliases, damaged data base...

I have tried the moving folder technique many times, but had no effects so far. The iWork on the web is locked or "under maintenance". No synchronizing on any Mac.

Not so much a mystery if the the users with problems are a small fraction of the total users.

And we will never know how many having this problem - I guess it's many of the few using document sync in iCloud - but my guess is not better than any other guess. The question is why they don't fix it - after at least a month - even if it's just a fraction of the total users.

I suppose nothing will really happen until some important profile who covers Apple in media or blogs is having problems.

    Hi,

I had the same problem of “Documents and Data” syncing between Mac and iCloud.  Turning off and on again the checkbox of ‘Documents and Data’ in System Preferences didn’t work as a solution and Console.app showed lots of errors in “ubiquity-digest.log” such as “there was a http error 503 while talking to iCloud reason: Blocking request by ‘my device name’ in progress; try again later.”

    This is my solution:

    1)  Make sure you have backups of all your documents and data

    2)  Turn off the checkbox of ‘Documents and Data’ in System Preferences > iCloud

    3)  Delete ~/Library/Mobile Documents Folder

    4)  Delete ~/Library/Cashes/com.apple.ubd  Folder

    5)  Delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ubd.plist

    6)  Delete all keys and certificates named ‘com.apple.ubiquity.*****’ in the login keychain of Keychain Access.app

    7)  Turn on the checkbox of ‘Document and Data’ again in the System Preferences > iCloud

    8)   Wait several minutes or open an application that uses documents in the iCloud to start syncing between Mac and iCloud.

You can see the detailed process in the “ubiquity-digest.log” of Console.app.
