I always play music frommy  itunes library via airplay to my full home stereo. Hours upon hours. Since iTunes 11 was installed it just stops after an hour or so when the iMac sleeps. That NEVER used to happen. My music could play for days without stoping even as my mac fell asleep. Any idea how to fix or is this a glitch with 11?

I get the same problem with my MacBook Pro. Since I downloaded iTunes 11, my AirPlay streaming (to my Apple TV) stops when my Mac goes to sleep. Everything is working fine when I turn off all the sleep options...hope they'll fix it soon.

This is a common problem and is mentioned in the Apple TV and Home Sharing forums as well. Set Sleep interval in Energy Saver Preference Pane in System Preferences to a longer period of time as a temporary work around. Fix it Apple.

desktop windows 7 box and iTunes 11, power save issues are not to blame.

nothing I have tried makes music last longer than a few songs. either using Airplay OR playing from AppleTV

I have the same problem on my iMac (2011). When the Mac goes to sleep, the music stopps.

With iTunes 10, the computer didn't go to sleep while music was playing, only the screen went black.

    Apple has to correct this.

    Greetings

I haven't tested this completely but I am having the same problem.  What I discovered is that it only seems to happen if I start a playlist with the shuffle button in the playlist view.  If I just start playing a playlist with the play button it seems to work fine.  So now I start by pressing the shuffle button, then press stop, then play.

    Again, might be a fluke.

Apple does need to fix this though.

    Hello

Same here under Windows 8 and 7. it works great under 10.7. Number 11 couldn't hold awake my PC while streaming a Movie or something. The ATv3 Lost the Home Sharing Connection. I have now uninstall Apple Itunes 11 complett with all Apple Stuff like Quicktime, Bonjour, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Driver, Apication Support, Then Install 10.7 again. Now it works again.

You need to start the old 10.7 Itunes Library the Library files from your backup, before your Upgraded to Itunes 11. Newer Library Files maked/Changed under Itunes 11 doesn't work with the older Version.

Can anyone confirm if the recently released 11.0.1 fixes this sleep issue?  I haven't upgraded yet, and don't want to be stuck with a non-functional product (since I strea, via airplay quite frequently).

    Thanks!

    Hi !

Just tested it a few minutes ago and it looks to be working fine.

Set up my MacBook air to sleep after 5 minutes,

and started a radio station streaming in Itunes 11.0.1

through Airplay to my stereo center.

The mac turned to sleep and streaming didn't stop.

    Jean.

so it actually didn't go to sleep (I guess the screen turned black, though). Which is what we want. :-)

Thanks for testing it out! Happy they fixed it rather quickly...
