Hi,

I have the iphone5 using iOS 6.0.1. I can't find the "Add to Existing Album" feature used to moved a photo from one album to another already existing album.

The reason I'm looking for this feature is because when I transferred photos from my PC it made a new Album in Photos and the photos are not showing up in Camera Roll therefore Facebook doesn't see these photos because it only syncs to my Camera Roll. This very frustrating that this feature seems to be MIA.

Thank you,

Mike

There is no add to existing album that I know of.

I use one of my other photo apps (like iPhoto for iOS or PhotoForege2) to share photos from various albums to the camera roll when I need to. Then I canister them to Facebook.

You seem to have worked out a feasable work-around, thank you for sharing this.

(you'll notice that you can not select Camera Role, Photo Library or your Synced Album... Why Apple?!?!)

-Apple (and Facebook) can improve on thier system and make it more intuitive for the user. Hopefully in later updates this will be easier.

You may want to send feedback to the Apple developer team, it is not very likely that they will see your post here. Leave feedback at:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto_ios.html

    Cheers

Glad you figured that out. The next time I used the Photos app I looked for the Add to Existing Album command and finally found it by tapping the Share icon. Yep it is there and does exist. Sorry for my error in my previous post.

I just stumbled onto a way to do this, sort of.  There's a plus sign at the upper left that is used to create a new album.  Select it and name the new album: you will then be prompted to select photos to add to the new album and the selection window will have a Select All Photos button at the top left.  Hit that and then Done and all those photos will go to the new album.

Now, now do I delete the old album that was created on the Mac and transferred to the iPad using iTunes?  These albums exist on the iPad and IPhone but are not editable or deleteable there.  So, how?

UPDATE: Tried the method I mentioned above and assumed I could open iTunes in the Mac and select those albums to no longer sync but the pix dissapeared from both the original album and the newly created one.  Tried also giving the new album a different name but got the same behavior.

I really wish there was a clear concise method for creating and syncing albums between iOs and OSX.  This is driving me nuts.  I am very close to getting rid of the iPhone, iPad and Macbook Air and replacing them all with Windows or Android devices just over the photo syncing problem.  This is ridiculous.

My survival strategy: Organize in one place only:

    • I add all photos that I want to keep permanently on the iPad to the camera roll; that is the only safe place. And the camara roll will be backed up in iCloud and added to the photo stream.
    • On the iPad I only create new albums from photos that have been created on the iPad (new photos, edited versions)  and added to the camera roll.
    • Albums for photos synced to the ipad are solely created and organized on my mac. Syncing this albums to the iPad will mirror the changes on the iPad.

I have several problems with that method.  First, most of my new photos are created either by the iPhone or arrive by email.  Let's take my Pets album as an example.  That album started several years ago on a Windows PC and was imported to the Mac and from there to the iPad, yet I take new pictures of my pets and want to add them to that album directly on the iPhone.

Secondly, my daughter emails me pictures of my granddaughter which need to go into their own album and it would be most convenient to manage that album on the iPad and have it mirrored to the iPhone. I would prefer to just let the iPad be the primary manager off all photos and not mess with having to import them to the Mac but there's a space problem, so my Mac is the repository for photo archiving.  What I wish was that Apple would allow all photos the same status regardless of where they originate.  A jpeg is a jpeg is a jpeg.

That is how it should be, and probably will be in a few years. You can do all that in iPhoto on any mac, but the iPad is not yet a full substitute for a personal computer. I am quite happy and amazed with what it can do already with the limited space and processing capabilities on such a tiny device.

Have you already send feedback to Apple for a feature request?

    Regards
