How do you pin the miniplayer to your taskbar permanenttly?

    If you position it on  your task bar I've found that it remains there until I move it unless I switch windows. I do have the preferences set to keep miniplayer on top of other windows.

    Is there a way to get itunes miniplayer to appear in the taskbar.  I seem to recall I could this with early versions of iTunes/Windows...but can't figure out how to do this with iTunes 11 on Windows 8.  The best I can do is position it to hover above the task bar as Michael describes, but this is annoying as it doesn't fit exactly and sometimes gets hidden under the taskbar.  Thanks!

    OK.  So I was able to get the iTunes controls to show up in the Windows 8 taskbar when iTunes is iconified.  This is close to getting the miniplayer to show up in the taskbar, but doesn't include a description of what is playing or what is up next--it is ashame I can't get all of the iTunes miniplayer to show up in the taskbar.  To get the controls to show up in the taskbard do the following:

    *  from iTunes menu, select "edit preferences" then "Advanced"

    *  then make sure "iTunes icon in system tray is checked"...but don't check "Minimize iTunes window to system tray".

    *  hit "OK"

    (Note:  you might also want to check the "Keep miniPlayer on top" choice here if you want the miniplayer always to show up on top.)

    In windows 7 I right-click the taskbar > Toolbars > iTunes . That gives a sort of a permanent mini player when itunes is open, but minimized. Then to arrange things better, I grab the handle on the itunes toolbar and drag it all the way to the left right next to the start button. This action gets clunky so you might have to try it a few times. Then drag the rest of your pinned icons back to the left, just right of that. Then right click and pin the itunes icon and drag it to the left so it is right next to the mini toolbar player.

    Hope that helps someone.

    That is exact answer I was looking for! Thanks! It always slips my mind on how to get that mini player back in the taskbar.
