Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off the update notifications for iTunes 11? I downgraded to 10.7 and I'm tired of seeing notifications for 11. I won't reinstall that again until they put back CoverFlow (among other things) or I hear good things about it.

What do you mean notification ?

Are you talking about the download notification telling you to upgrade ?

Well of course I am. I see nothing in the App Store app to ignore downloads.

For as good as Apple is at offering great things and constantly reinventing, the willingness to remove features simply because they don't think they're important or are antiquated is infuriating.  The lack of the coverflow is an example, as is the refusal to use flash media player.  Sure, flash is a pain and antiquated but it's too widespread to not include it with anything simply because Apple thinks it stinks.  You can also point to their decision to "reinvent" a mapping program.  Hate this kind of arrogance.

So yes, going back to iTunes 10.7.  Only solution.  Maybe coverflow will return.

    Apples and oranges (pun inteded)

Atleast their reasons for not including flash are ackowledged and sain eg: battery life, code review and expected developer colaboration. But removing CF simply because they "think" a majority of their user base doesn't use it is not.

Totally hear your point tho about flash. Puffin, atomic browser and/or Skyfire might help with that by the way.

Remove a great piece of functionality because??!?!!  I still havent read a reasonable explaination as to why they removed it to begin with.  itune 10.6/7 had a great feature in that YOU COULD TURN IT OFF.

It won't even play a bloody smart playlist. Just plays music.

Apple, you have my resignation and you've had my anger and not responded. I'm going to Windows.

Hmm..  well this post confirms my disappointment.  I'll be downgrading from 11 to 10.7 too.

This is truly the worst thing they could have possibly done to iTunes. And this is coming from the guy that designed the original quicktime interface for soundjam which eventually became iTunes !!

OK, OK. EVERYBODY needs to just chill the %$#!&* out. Do you really thinki Apple would leave you high and dry on this one? C'mon people. Now, I will admit, it took a few minutes of poking around to figure it out and find this but… iTunes 11 actually has the best album art view yet. Ok, yeah, cover view is gone, but you never really used that anyway. Trust me, this is better.

With iTunes set to shuffle BY song, hit the play button. If you have artwork a tiny icon of that artwork appears in the top bar to the left of the progress bar. Double click on that icon and VOILA your cover art becomes a totally sizeable window that changes with each song. You can make it any size you want. Full screen even and you can minimize the rest of iTunes without impacting it.

THIS ROCKS! Thanks for always doing it right Apple. Elegant. Functional. And Cool. Maybe a little hard to figure out, but worth the search.

However, some of us did use it, and that's why we are complaining.
