Having recently downloaded google chrome I'm finding it a real problem. Often slow and comes up with the awsnap message far too often as well as wanting to kill connections. Also now three of the four apps on the home page are blank with no picture though the other has one. Anyone any suggestions please. I've tried deleting the history and cache etc, and am fed up of doing it to be honest. It seems to need doing every three days or so. Very annoying, even Safari was better. Anyone any suggestions please. Many Thanks. Imac os. 10.6.8

Run a test with Easy Find (a free app through App Store) or try Spotlight, to see if you have MacKeeper or anything from the Zeobit Stable.   Just type the words in.   My experience of Google Chrome led to just such a situation.   Post back if the result is positive.

Thanks seventy one for the response. Tried searching both Mackeeper and Zeobit in both Easy Find and Spotlight. Nothing comes up after search. Hope I've done that right. Cheers Steve.

Your problem maybe that you are using apps that are at best worthless and at worse create problems with your system. I'm referring to MacKeeper, it is considered malware and should immediately be removed from your system. I am not familiar with Zeobit, what exactly is it and why did you install it? There are numerous threads on these communities about MacKeeper and if you Google it you will find it's only real supporter is the developer.

    Hi Ziggy15,

Well, pleased to hear that anyway.   Mine was a nasty experience.   The other problem with Chrome is that it is from the Google stable and is therefore more commercially oriented.    Extensions were the source of my troubles and I later read they were not so thoroughly tested though that may have been someone even more disgruntled than I was.

Just be aware; pop up ads for no reason, particularly from the two I mentioned.

< RK > Zeobit is, I believe, the parent company of MacKeeper.

Use Firefox, it will let you do things no other browser will.

You can save any video, and it blocks virtually all advertising.

Except I don't have Mackeeper or any zeobit products as already posted. I'm talking about the apps that come up with google chrome. The only one showing anything WAS Google store, and even that has now lost colour though it still shows as a shoppoing bag. The other just show as squares with a box in them, such as youtube and mail. I caan only repeat that it is poor that google don't seem to have a satisfactory answer to this, nor does anyone else. I'm not the first poster on this, seems to be a problem on iphones and ipads too. Mines just on a Mac desktop, Snow Leopard as already posted.

Unfortunately you do otherwise those files would not have installed on your system. You need to locate them and remove them. You must have responded to an ad of some type or some other user on  your system did. Sorry to be that blunt but files don't just magically appear.

    Last thought, Ziggy.

Google 'awsnap' and you'll find a host of comments and some suggestions.

Though going back through the post I am beginning to wonder if Chrome is worth the trouble.  It looks like you don't absolutely need it and Safari / Firefox should be enough for anyone.

Good luck, all the same.   I don't think I can add any more to the thread.

Thanks again seventy one. I rather think I will end up going back to Safari. Lol before I upgraded to Snow Leopard I couldn't even get Chrome, and goodness knows why I bothered. I have got virus barrier-x5 and whilst it's not really needed if I run it, it too finds nothing. Cheers once again.
