I believe that the best way to make your dissatisfacton known is by filling in the feedback form (rather than posts in miscellaneous apple forums). For iTunes, that's here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

I've also had good luck with writing to Apple, which means sending a letter (as in snail mail) to Tim Cook.

I should say that "good luck" means that I know my comments have been read by the folks at Apple, not success in persuading Apple to reinstate dropped features!

I filled in a "feedback," form on the first day I had i-Tunes 11, expressing my dissatisfaction.

It's a while since I've sent anything to Apple, but they've been very quick with regards to download prolbems etc.

However, I've had no response to the feedback forms regarding this issue.

Maybe they're having to cope with a massive backlash/backlog....

You can sort of do that [re the poster who said you can change order of tracks in UpNext by dragging), but I would do things like edit the number of stars or the category description of tracks coming up when I had a full window for iTunes DJ (e.g., create an Opera category, not just Classical), and you can't do that in the upNext window,.  You can't even change the **** size of the upNext window so you can see all 25 of the upcoming tracks (which is what I had my iTunes DJ set at).

You're correct about the categories and the size of the window.

But you can change the star rating:

    Correction!

In the miniPlayer, you can change the size of the window (and if you add tracks to "Up Next" it can grow to more than 20 tracks. The default is to show 20 songs at random, but that's not the limit.)

I encourage everyone to call Apple tech support or to make Genius Bar appointments.  The need to commit so many resources to this problem will encourage them to restore the feature.

A bit intimidated to attempt restoring v10.7 and my beloved iTunes DJ, I called in yesterday. The agent with whom I first spoke feigned ignorance of the problem or was truly unable to help. Sadly, I think it was the latter. I politely insisted on talking to a supervisor. They obliged, transferring the call to a very nice tech agent guided me through the process, with help from this link, posted here earlier:

It also wouldn't hurt to send feedback to Apple via their website as well.

Let's get this simple but indispensable feature back on iTunes!

Yay! More clicks to attempt to recreate functionality that was already available in iTunes DJ!

Yep, going back to 10.7 is a bit daunting.

But it can be done relatively painlessly, though I took the "move the new Library," so that 10.7 recognized the previous one..

That did result in losing my playlists and having to download all the album artwork again, which took a while and I've had to start my "Top 25 most played," playlist from scratch etc.

But, for me, that's a small price to pay for being seriously dis-satisfied with the loss of D.J.

Hopefully, someone, somewhere in Apple is taking note of all this..either through this, or similar forums, or via the feedback..

For me, it'll be very interesting to see whether anything's done, eventually to deal with it.

Loosing iTunes DJ seems unacceptable when I have spent hundreds to thousands configuring my home and devices for this feature.  Being apart of a household of four, iTunes DJ was the most fair way to que music.  I will be reverting back to 10....  features like these differentiated Apple... now Apple appears to want to be just like everybody else.  Tough to be loyal to Apple when they pull stunts like this.

I joined the support community forum just so I can complain about this.  I want iTunes DJ back.  I came home from a long day of work, and just want to play some random music.  I don't want to configure anything,  I don't want to select what is next, or set up play lists.  I don't want to have to read community forums.  There should at least be a legacy look.  This *****.  I want iTunes 10.x back.

    Just a note, regarding re-installing iTunes 10.7..

In recent days, since re-installing it, I've received more than the usual number of requests from i-Tunes to "upgrade," to 11..

I have, of course not pushed the "upgrade," option..

I've also checked the "don't remind me again," option on 2 occasions now..yet still received further reminders.

Bingo .. person of a like mind to me, I used iTunes DJ to effectively play my entire music collection removing all tracks below 2 minutes and no longer than 20 and ensure that it included new songs i had recently bought and to add songs from a playlist that ensured the least listened too songs got an airing.. even with iTnes DJ restored this will be a problem though as it seems iTunes nolonger records the time and date a track is played .. possibly unless you actually double click the song.. in the last 2 days my itunes has not stopped playing songs my playlist sort of most recently played song shows i've only played 4 songs in the last 3 days since upgrading.

I have never however used it to do live DJ'ing there is far better software designed for doing that and if it can read the new iTunes database I may use it for my music interface rather than itunes has ever been able to deliver.... but i know the local bar where i put a mini mac in with itunes to run their music had better not upgrade or it will take me days to retrain the bar staff about how to choose the playlist and have it shuffle and add requests.

    Hello iPodista,

I have already reported a bug to Apple that when you activate the feature of fading in the songs (mixing the one ending with the one beggining) then the system does not log that the song has ended and thus does not save the last reproduction date and time.

If you deactivate that feature in the Preferences menu, then it begins working again and the system shows you the last reproduced songs and the tiem and date is logged correctly.

I hope I have explained myself clearly.
