Hi,

I have an Iphone and an Ipad.  I'm able to pair both devices by bluetooth and the connectivity it pretty good when I do it.

The question I'm having is, if there any possible way to force the auto connection to one device only so I won't have to go to settings - bluetoonth and then connect it.

This way, if I shut down my Iphone or Ipad I want my Ipad to auto connect (to pair) with my iphone.

Is there any way to do this ?

Iphone : 3GS with all the latest update

Ipad : version 2 with all the latest update

I have also tried with an Iphone 4

Thanks for your help

Eddie

I take it that you have a security concern over a forced connection?

Not necessarily a security concern but I want to specify to my Ipad to only connect to only one Iphone and I want the I pad to automatically pair with the Iphone everytime both devices are on and bluetooth is activated.

To give you an example : Let's say I'm in a building, I use my Iphone (on a 3G connection and not Wifi) to theter with my Ipad.  They both sync together and it works just fine, I can browse the web with my I pad.

I shut down my Iphone, therefore the I pad is no longer paired with it.

When I reopen my Iphone I want my Ipad to automatically pair with my Iphone, I don't want to go to settings, bluetooth and then connect it.

Is there any way to do this ?

    Thanks

If the iphone works similar to ipad then switching on they should automatically find each other and reconnect. This is what happens with my bluetooth keyboard - its always active unless I physically switch it off.  Turning both devices back on they pair automatically.

I'll give it a try again, it didn't worked out well when I tried the last few times.

    Thanks again

Hi eddieades, I have exactly the same problem!

My ipad (3rd edition "new ipad" under ios6) won't auto-reconnect to my iphone (iphone 4 under IOS 5.1), whereas it auto-reconnects to another bluetooth accessory (external GPS module).

Anyone has an idea on how this could be corrected? It is all the more annoying that in my area the iphone switches often between 3G and Edge, which seems to disconnect the bluetooth link to the ipad systematically.

This seems to have died with no resolution.  I'm also having this problem and would like to be able to have my iPad auto-connect to my iPhone whenever it comes back in range.  Has anyone figured this out yet?

How many posting here have their iPhone as the 'first bluetooth paired device'.  The reason I ask is because of the following behaviour.  When i set up my wireless home connection it was my first connected network, the same is true with my bluetooth keyboard.  When in range they both autoconnect.  Further devices which i am also networked with, including cyber cafe's and friends devices and networks require me to confirm via password or network 'tick' icon when in range, even though they have been set up previously.  It is as if only one device per network type (wireless or bluetooth) can hold priority for autoconnect. All others require manual intervention when in range.  I am not even sure that my device in doing this is operating as it should, so would like to hear from anyone who gets 'auto-connect regardless of device or location".  What exactly is the default/correct operation for these services?  Does anybody know?

It is truely appalling that nobody from Apple has addressed this issue.  How can they claim to be ahead of the field when they can't even get the simple things like working with their own devices simplified and automated.

We'll be dumping all 5 devices to buy new SAmsung Android phones and computers.

just turn your Personal Hotspot option on, on the iPhone and then conenct the 2 devices via WiFi - Bluetooth does not work

Anyone find an answer to this? I've tried via Bluetooth and wifi but neither auto connects to the hotspot the next time.
