Did you check Calendars & Reminders in Settings>iCloud on your Mac, and confirm that you are signed into the correct iCloud account? Also check Calendar>Preferences>Accounts under Account Information for you iCloud account, that you have checked Enable this account.
Haven't heard anything about being forced to change passwords every 90 days. And you have to sign out, then back in for your own security. Otherwise there would be no way to disconnect someone who is using your iCloud account without your permission by changing your password.

thanks for the tips randers, had done both of those.
So strange. I can see my calendars on iCloud. Then I add an account to calendar with my AppleID and password for that same iCloud account, but the iCloud calendars don't show up in Calendar.
Looks like I am stuck using my iCloud calendar for a while
