    Rest your SMC

    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds.
    4. Attach the computer's power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer

Post back if you still have the issue, for other steps to take.

    Hello Greg,

I have the mad fan issue on my early 2009  Macbook. I've tried resetting the SMC following these instructions:

    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    3. Remove the battery.
    4. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    5. Release the power button.
    6. Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
    7. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

But the problem is still there. Any ideas on what to do next?

    Thanks!

    Benito

Run the Apple Hardware Test to see if there is a sensor or fan hardware issue. Probably best to open a new thread if you want/need to spend more time with your fan issue.

The process for resetting the SMC on a Macbook it totally different than an iMac. Please follow the instructions in:

    MBA SMC and PRAM reset
