Select from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them and test.

I believe I was seeing this issue before I installed extensions, as I took the opportunity to try out AdBlock and see if it helped.
To be sure, though, I just turned extensions off and still saw the same activity. In fact, I'm having the disappearing text occur to me as I compose this post.
Any other troubleshooting suggestions?

This thread at MacRumors describes what seems to be the same issue:
I'm sharing it here because I've had trouble finding similar issues, mostly because I can't figure out the perfect keywords to describe what's happening here. This poster does a decent job at describing what's happening.

I'm having the same issue -- in Gmail, as well as typing in this box. I have no extensions installed.

Mark: An Apple Care rep advised me to click Safari > Reset Safari (everything checked). I haven't had any problems since this morning. It may not be permanent, but it's at least a temporary fix.
Linc: If the problems reoccur post-reset, I will follow those steps and post the results.

But then you have to re-enter all your passwords, addresses, IDs, and everything, right? Frankly, I'm not sure my problem is serious enough to undertake all that effort! Thank you!!

You have the option to not check
"Remove saved names and passwords."

Yes, but I use 1Password to manage all of my information, so it's not much of a burden.
I'd recommend checking the software out, although it's not at all related to this problem.

Yeah, I've been meaning to check out 1Password -- and to get it. But it's one more of those things that "I've been meaning to check out" . . .

Resetting Safari didn't solve the problem. It's back -- and just the same. Oh well.

I still have this problem in Safari -- in GMail, in the Twitter web app, and even while typing in this forum. Has anyone found a solution to this? MacBook Pro 2010, Mountain Lion, all the latest updates. Thank you!

I am trying to help a friend who has a new 15" MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion and is seeing this problem. Refreshing the page in Safari seems to resolve it, but having to do this repeatedly is very very annoying. His wife also has a new 15" MacBook Pro, same software (as far as I know). Hers is a couple of weeks older. And doesn't have this problem.
At least based on the February 19 post by MarkPek it appears this still hasn't been solved. Does anyone know differently?

Is your pal on 10.8.3? And the most recent version of Safari? I haven't had this problem since Apple's most recent updates to the OS and Safari. I'd suggest trying that.
