I have had repeated issues with my in-call volume when using the headphones that came with the IPhone 5. I cannot adjust the volume using the buttons on the headphones or on the device itself and it is currently on max volume.

This is what I've tried with no success:

  • Buttons on headphones
  • Buttons on side of phone
  • Double clicking the  center button, scrolling until I see the volume bar and adjusting accordingly
  • Changing the "Music" volume limit in settings.

Please let me know if you have any information that coule help

Thanks,

Goingdeafman

I double checked and everything was correct. I have made another call and was able to change the volume level. Maybe the phone just locks up on occation.. Very frustrating.

    Thanks for your reply

    FYI

Call volume can only be changed whilst on a call.

AT other times the buttons change the ringer volume or music volume,

It could be the plastic still on your phone - sounds daft but all day i have had the same problem. Checked out some more forums thought i would give it a go .... IT WAS THE PLASTIC.

Better go buy myself a case!

I have had the same problem with an iPhone 4s and now an iPhone 5s.  I double checked the settings (listed above) to no avail.  One thing I've noticed is that it only occurs when the earpieces are plugged in when the call is answered.  If the earpieces are plugged in after the call is answered, then the volume control works normally.  It also only happens when using earpieces that have a built in microphone.  If they are normal headphones, there is no problem, regardless of when the call comes in.  I checked on my wife's iPhone 5c and there are no issues with her phone.
