Why do I have a "no SIM card error message?"  How do I fix it?

I reset my iPhone 4 twice to see if it could be fixed that way, but it has not been working.  Whenever it turns back on, I get something along the lines of "No SIM card insterted" or whatever.  I can't really do anything with my phone, so it is clearly not good.  How do I go about fixing this?  I have the insurance I believe, but my warranty is definitely out of date.  I got the phone in July of 2011.

iPhone 4, iOS 6.0.1
