Q: Trouble transferring Office for Mac onto new Macbook Pro Retina

I just transferred Office 2011 from my old MacBookPro to a new MacBookPro w/ Retina but it says "The Office for Mac installation did not complete successfully because there was a problem with the installer.  To fix the issue please reinstall Office for Mac."  My original installation of Office was via a disk with an enclosed Product Key.  The new MacBook doesn't have a DVD drive.  Can I just download a new copy of Office and use the old Product Key or is there another solution??

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), Migration

Yes, you can do that at www.mactopia.com. Download the Trial, install it, then use your existing product key to authorize it.

Yes as Kappy points out or you could make a DMG of the Office DVD and copy that over to your new MBPr. Or you could buy an external DVD drive and it does not have to be an Apple brand DVD drive. Any USB external DVD drive will work. Best to get one that is Tray Load instead of the Slot load that Apple uses.
