BBEdit is good, it is what I am using too.

Have you had a chance to try it?

  • Munas Level 4 Level 4 (1,255 points)

it is really strange. Just now I tried it on my another Mac, and it works as expected. Are you sure you add these lines to the correct plist file place and do not brake the grammar... all the tags are closed etc?...

It's not a matter of adding extra usernames via my ISP. In this case I am the ISP and control my own domain. It's a matter of getting Apple mail to send under aliases for a single account.

Still looking at the other solution posted here. Thanks.

I already gave you that answer, 3 aliases per account are available

    Here

3 ALAISES PER ACCOUNT ARE AVAILABLE

And if that is not what you want why are you sking for it.

Sorry for bothering you again. However, the fact that it works for me on two differenc computers and brakes Mail app for you intrigued me.

the file Accounts.plist contains separate parts for each account you have configured on Mail app.

The one that I have configured for my domain that I host at Google looks like one bellow. I only changed personal information - it is in upercase letters and bold in this example as well as changed uniqueId (the last string part at the bottom). Some other parts you may have different as well as these describe how long to keep Trash, Junk etc.

    Csound,

Thanks for your note, but I'm afraid you are misinterpreting the question. I'm asking about associating different full names with each alias.

More than 4 are possible by the way.

    Regards,

    doug

This would have been far simpler had you said so, good luck.

That was your first question, I read your post and responded to the latest question, but good luck whatever it is.

I have the same problem. I used Eudora for a decade and I am suffering with Mail. My wife and I have always shared a single e-mail address. When we write, in Eudora we just chose the real name, like: John <smith@abc.net>, Sue <smith@abc.net> or John and Sue <smith@abc.net>.

Additionally, in Eudora we were able to choose between different smtps for that single account. For instance, when we write to a MS address (live, hotmail, etc) we know that our message will be bounced because the smtp of our domain is shared and almost permanently blacklisted, so we choose an alternative (paid) safe smtp for those messages. Or when when we are traveling abroad, we can add a local smtp without deleting any of the others in the list. Is it it possible in Mail to select a different smtp when we are composing a new e-mail? So far, I can only select "From" and "Signature".

    Thanks in advance.
