The problem with this is that whenever I perform a software update i.e. upgradation of iOS, all my contacts get lost. Can you please tell me where are the contacts synch/stored  in the iTunes?

iPhone 3GS (8GB), iOS 5.1.1

Only you will know that by checking your iTunes settings.

Sounds like you aren't synching at all.

Maybe look into using iCloud for your contacts so you don't lose them again

In order to sync your contacts to iCloud, you simply set that up on your phone under Settings...iCloud. Make sure Contacts is switched to On.

You can check your contacts are synching by logging into and clicking the Contacts button.

If you prefer to sync to Outlook, you'll need to download iCloud Control Panel for Windows and set that option there.

    I'd recommend iCloud
