I HATE THE NEW iTunes !!! how to revert to the previous version ?

    I absolutely hate the new iTunes, it is the worst update I have ever seen. You got rid of so many useful things, and didn't add anything useful. Most noteworthy is getting rid of the display duplicates option, the bottom bar that shows how the file size and length of the selected songs (along with not having the last song just end right at the bottom), not having the year the album was released in the iTunes store, when you click on the artist of the song instead of going to the store it displays the artist's songs in your library, there are a decent amount of bugs in the new version, and just a general goofy look and menu system that just makes everything more difficult without making anything better.

     

    I tried to give it a shot and use it for a bit, but my opinion hasn't changed, and now I know the new iTunes program simply *****, and there's no way for apple to make it better other than reverting to the previous version of iTunes. I wish that you guys had made it easier to revert back to the old itunes, especially since anyone with a brain would know that the new product is massively inferior. I guess I'm just going to have to delete iTunes 11 and reinstall the previous version and uncheck automatic updates.

    My kids are really upset that Cover Flow has gone - and if Macrumors is right, is not coming back even if the other bugs and complaints are fixed. For them it was the best way of displaying music while it's playing. They've now gone from thinking Apple was the 'cool' computer, which was different, "just worked", and did beautiful things that their friends with their rather ordinary PCs couldn't, to thinking Apple is just another computer and things get messed up just the same as with Windows boxes.

     

    That's a really poor business decision. These are Apple's future customers. I guess they'll be keeping their old eMac running Leopard and iTunes 10.6.3 for quite a bit longer now. On the bright side, I might spend less time fighting them to use the new iMac.

    I've done this and can say it works! It was the Artist view that did it for me! Its one thing you take away grid view...but to replace it with such garbage is another thing entirly!

    WhyApple7...interesting that you found it necessary to copy/paste your previous post from a year-old "Can't copy/paste album artwork in iTune" thread.  Too bad the only reason you switched was for "Zune Market".

     

    JimR56...great news that you finally got it done.  Too bad, however, that one has to shell out around $33 bucks to do so...with AppZapper and Pacifist.

     

    I tried using TimeMachine but ended up with an unusable iTunes.  A warning message came up when I tried to open it:  "You can't open the application iTunes.app because it may be damaged or incomplete."

    For those who were too harsh; we should encourage Apple by our comments to come out with better stuff instead of blaming.

    I do not condone the language, but Apple does need to grasp the extent of its customers' frustrations.  I warned Apple years ago that it was heading down the path of Microsoft, and I see nothing to have changed my perspective since then.  If Apple was truly interested in serving its customers interests, it would give customers THE OPTION to upgrade or not, and FULL DISCLOSURE as to what the upgrade entails.  It would conduct a marketing campaign to alert users to its upgrades and give them the choice to use it or not.  Further, it would also organize staff to attend to the issues raised in its own community. iTunes has totally frozen my well-upgraded iMac for months and I recieve zero reply from them.  I have numerous laptops, iPads, iPods, iPhones, and iMacs and am now looking elsewhere for my tech.  Amazon's new Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G looks very good, and I have elected to go that way rather than try Apple's new iPad mini.  In my opinion, it was a mistake for me to purchase so much iTunes content from Apple as all of it is now effectively blocked by iTune's problem with my iMac.

     

    Apple is far, far too big brotherish for my tasts.

    I must admit that I've had several good years after switching to Apple, but the last year and a half has taught me never, ever to download a software update when it is first available.  OS6 on the iPhone, the last Airport update, 10.7.5, and now iTunes11.  It seems like they're all coming out with either outright errors (like maps and the Airport connectivity issues) or with the strangest taste in what consitutes a logical user experience.

     

    In all of this, one has to be cautious about just reacting negatively to something new of course, but I am seeing a real degradation in things like search capability in Mail and Address Book, a whole new hyperactive spell checker on my iPhone that agressively completes words (incorrectly) much more often than previously and functionality in iTunes that takes more clicks to get to than previously (if it still exits at all).

     

    One of the things that drove me away from Windows (besides the fundamental performance issues) was how MS would change interfaces with each update just for the sake of change.  It seems like in the last 18 months Apple has started to do the same, like someone left the software department without adult supervision.

     

    Still, I wouldn't go back to MS, but this short term trend of cranking out software without working out the functional and qualitative errors first is worrying.

    Are you serious?  you want us to tell a major company it's ok to srew up and then fix part of it, what do you think it's a bunch of kids working there that needs to be encouraged?

     

    if you can't run a business like adults.....GET OUT!!!!!

    Are you serious?  you want us to tell a major company it's ok to srew up and then fix part of it, what do you think it's a bunch of kids working there that needs to be encouraged?

    Apple really need to re-think their 'menacing' attitude, take it or **** off, when imposing user w. so called updates, which more than often come off like the brainchild of some disoriented know-it-all's!

     

    Apple are NOT improving on superior products but making new in the good name of Apple just to push more sales, when they should really be hoarding what they have!

     

    This popcycle stand does not posses the right brief: you know what you got, make the best of it!

    I got an email stating that JimR56 had responded.  But it's not here...or at least I can't seem to find it.  Weird.  So, in response to JimR56...

    I might give em a try, but my general attitude is not to 'knowingly' use free trials.

    I got it from apple.com.  It's the real mathing.

     

    Anyway, there's def something wrong with Discussions.  Some posts seemingly arbitrarily not showing up.  Contrary to some saying their posts were "deleted by Apple because I complained..."  That's laughable; "Apple" doesn't monitor these post, tho there are 'monitors' to check for abusive language, etc I suppose.  You think your post got deleted because you 'complained'?  Just check out the 'subject line' of this thread.

    Such vitriol and extreme responses displayed in many of the posts on this thread.  Just not the civility of the past here in Discussions.  In the not to distant past, when one asked a question or had a problem, attempted solutions was the norm, not rants.

     

    Gotta admit, one of my favorites is "mamo"...

    I've already UPGRADED from iTunes 11 to 10.7! Its like going from a tablet to a computer!

    I will simply not buy one single item from Itunes store until they revert from this nightmare of an update back to old 10 again. Its just not on the map!
